June Mineyama-Smithson / MAMIMU

Artist / Graphic Designer / Lecturer on a mission to spread optimism through bold colours and shapes

From the late-1970s groovy patterns to the 1980s bright colours, my childhood in Tokyo was filled with bold and joyful things. I aim to spread the optimism I felt as a child, with a contemporary twist.

I am interested in combining art and science to find the Optimum Optimism. My collaboration with neuroscientist Dr Tara Swart resulted in the creation of on-screen idents for ITV.
